Education: BS Computer Science or
Information Technology
Skills: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-years
experience designing and supporting
802.11 infrastructure consisting or 10 or more
access points; traveling in throughout the United
States to perform wireless site surveys and wireless
installations 75 % of the time; engineering
solutions to integrate wireless LAN coverage into
new facilities; administering servers; setting-up
all access points in the WLSE for use with Radio
Management, Rogue AP detection, Auto Site Re-Survey,
and troubleshooting; working with Active Directory
group to have groups created to be used for the
802.1x authentication; working with outside vendors
and internal USPS organizations to have wireless
site surveys performed and required equipment
installed; working with security on identifying and
removing rogue AP’s on the network; evaluating new
wireless client devices to determine best wireless
settings; resolving client connectivity,
interference, authentication, and coverage issues;
troubleshoot switching issues.
Certification:
-
CWNP certified; include Wireless#, CWNA, CWSP,
CWAP, CWNE
-
CCNA & CCDA Certification a plus, however new
hire must obtain certification within first year
of employment.
Responsibilities:
ˇ
Using
detailed engineering guidelines perform on-site
preventative maintenance, routine repair and
advanced configuration of wide area and local area
wireless networking products.
ˇ
Perform
unsupervised installation and integration of
component level devices as well as advanced systems
oriented applications.
ˇ
Knowledge of operational systems must be broad with
the ability to learn communication systems and
concepts to significant depth.
ˇ
Keep
up-to-date on relevant competitive solutions,
products and services.
ˇ
Participate in technical presentations for
customers, partners and prospects.
ˇ
Assist
in the development of formal sales proposals
including setting-up and operating equipment for
customer demonstrations and evaluations.
ˇ
Preliminary knowledge in one of the following areas
of specialization: VPN, Security, QoS, Multi-Service
(Voice and Video), WAN, Wireless (relevant to
assignment).
ˇ
Some
experience with either telecommunications network
theory, design or architecture.
ˇ
Some
experience in Network Management, Security,
Planning, Traffic Engineering and Implementation.
ˇ
Ability
to install applications on UNIX and NT operating
systems.
ˇ
Some
experience with project management and resource
tracking.
ˇ
Preliminary knowledge of software and/or hardware,
testing and implementation.
ˇ
Good
written and verbal communication skills, good
listening and presentation skills.
ˇ
Ability
to work effectively and add value as a team member.
